Plant, 29, used his footwork and hand speed - his nickname is "Sweethands" - to try to keep the aggressive, stalking Alvarez at a distance. Mexican pound-for-pound legend Canelo last hit the ring in November when he knocked out US pro Caleb "Sweethands" Plant in the 11th round to take possession of all four super-middleweight (168lbs) titles and become "the undisputed". I believe Canelo truly wanted the Plant fight most, to become the first fully unified super-middleweight champion in history. He now intends to unify the super-middleweight division before the end of the year - although he refused to rule out the possibility of a third fight against Gennady Golovkin. Now Canelo has set his sights on Dmitry Bovil's light-heavyweight strap. Meanwhile, Morrell is already a world champion, set to defend his WBA 168 lbs strap against Kalvin Henderson this weekend. Ireland's Taylor beat England's Jonas on her way to winning Olympic gold in 2012 and has gone on to win world titles in two weight classes as a professional. Through 24 rounds between Alvarez and GGG -- a disputed split draw and a majority decision win for Alvarez -- it can be argued Golovkin won more rounds. Since 2019, Golovkin has won four in a row.
The first fight between the two ended in a controversial draw, while the Mexican won the rematch on the judges’ score card. Now, players can then identify another game or event to wager on with a second shot to score a cash payout. If the bet wins, get the cash. If the bet hits, collect the cash payout. Keep in mind, however, players can deposit up to $1,000 to take full advantage of the offer. He conquered the division by beating three unbeaten champions and a mandatory challenger in 2020-21. The 31-year-old will return to the division in September this year and take on Gennadiy Golovkin after falling short against Dmitry Bivol at 175 lbs. Would Alvarez be willing to drop some weight and take on “Triple G” Gennady Golovkin? If Canelo can can defeat Bivol he'll likely set up a trilogy fight against two-time rival Gennady Golovkin. In the UK, DAZN subscribers can watch Canelo vs Bivol live as part of their standard package. In the US, Canelo vs Bivol will be available on DAZN (opens in new tab) PPV for $59.99 to current DAZN subscribers.
Boasting five KOs in a 6-0 resume, Morrell looks likely to come out victorious on Saturday (June 4) night in his current hometown of Minneapolis. Background: Saudi Arabia and Iran, which are locked in proxy conflicts across the Middle East, have held five rounds of talks hosted by Baghdad. Canelo and Golovkin first fought five years ago at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. LAS VEGAS - He knows boxing history, he yearns to add to its traditions, and yet Canelo Alvarez has no time for the one thing that has defined nearly every great fighter before him. Super middleweight king Saul "Canelo" Alvarez is moving up a division and boxing for the WBA light-heavyweight title tonight when he steps into the ring with Dmitry Bivol in Las Vegas this evening. Alvarez battered Plant, dropped him twice early in the 11th round and stopped his previously unbeaten opponent to become boxing’s first fully unified super middleweight champion in the sport’s four-belt era. In the summer of 2019, it was announced that there would possibly be a fight between Alvarez and a longtime opponent Sergey Kovalev. It's not Canelo's first rodeo, mind - the Mexican previously stepped up to light-heavyweight (175lbs) in 2019, knocking out Sergey Kovalev to win the WBO title.
The decision to fight Kovalev when he did was carefully calculated. 9:07 p.m.: Marc Castro improved to 7-0 in his young career with an easy decision win over Pedro Vicente Scharbaii. Many are now doubting Canelo Alvarez’s chances against Gennadiy Golovkin, especially after GGG’s KO win over Ryota Murata. 3.
